Sadly, the Golden Nugget has lost us as customers. The elevators smelled horrible and although there is a no smoking policy, you could clearly smell what was lingering in the hallways. There are not enough lights and some of ours were inoperable. We stripped all the linens off the bed, sprayed Lysol on all the pillows, cleaned the jacuzzi and the entire bathroom with a disinfectant spray, and purchased all new linens. Since COVID, we travel with Lysol and bleach wipes, but we needed to disinfect the room in order to be comfortable, so a trip to Walmart was in order. The second room was also not clean, but we were just over it and didn’t want to go through the hassle so this time we just decided to clean it. There were stains all over the couch and ottoman, hair on the linens along with the bathroom, and so back downstairs we went.
Unfortunately on this go round our first room was disgusting once again. That one act of customer service caused us to spend more money with the hotel. Since that upgrade we became jacuzzi suite customers. On one of our previous visits, we were given a room that wasn’t cleaned at all and upon returning to the desk, our room was upgraded to a jacuzzi suite. If you need your room cleaned, trash taken out, or new linens, it’s not happening here. First of all, the hotel is charging a resort fee, but not providing daily services. Over the next two years, we stayed a few times and enjoyed our visits. We stopped for the king crab leg buffet that we saw on the billboard (which no longer exists) and decided it would be a nice place to try. We first found Golden Nugget in 2017 on our return trip from NOLA.
